THREAD PAINTING

Sometimes machine quilting reminds me of painting when the thread just flows. I spent a week at Avila Beach, and for the first time I took my machine on vacation. We had two bedrooms so I proceeded to create a temporary sewing room. Unlike my room at home, this one had a view of the ocean. This was a kit from A Quilter's Dream, purchased at the Long Beach show. It is very calm and soothing, just like the person who will receive it. A week in paradise is good for the soul.

STRAIGHT AND NARROW

I have really become interested in straight lines for machine quilting. These were created with the feed dogs up and just slightly moving the piece to get the curve. It adds a modern feel to a traditional block. I love the mysterious nature of the square in a square. The photo does not do it justice, but the block draws you in for a closer look.

ODD LEAVES

This is from a not to long ago magazine, whose name I can't remember. The leaves are very large and paper pieced. They are so different I could not wait . The completed top is very small so it sits until I can enlarge it, while keeping the leaves the focusPosted by Picasa.

LEAF LOVE

I never met a leaf I did not love. I used flannel instead of batting to keep this wall piece very flat. It was a dream to machine quilt. It measures 30 x 65.

AN APPLE A DAY

The word is we need 5 servings of fruits and vegatables a day. I could make this apple everyday. Does It count? I think so, after all just sewing reduces my stress level and we know that is a good thing.
