BUSY WORK

Sometimes I work through things by just working. The machine quilting retreat is around the corner so I have been warming up. I have been remiss with my 15 min per day quilting and it shows. So.....BACK TO IT GIRL !

HEARTACHE

My dear friend Dolores died this past week after a year and a half fight with uterine cancer. She was a very talented card maker, voracious reader, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. I could say so much more, but right now let me simply say... I will really miss her.

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE

THE TRUTH IS... IF YOU WANT TO IMPROVE, YOU MUST PRACTICE It really is that simple. Look at musicians, artists, photographers, gymnasts, swimmers, sports players. Why do quilters think our first attempt at hand applique should be perfect? Or machine quilting? The commitment to practice. That's where you see progress in your work.

A LITTLE ART

We had a very hard rain yesterday and it was my intent to QUILT ALL DAY. You know life happens while you're making other plans. So I saw this stack of Cherrywood pieces and the "what if "set in and guess what? The what if won.I am very interested in partial views. Not seeing the whole tree or moon gives the impression there is more to the picture than meets the eye. Just like life... there is more to it than meets the eye. Have a productive day.

EARLY WORK

I no longer own this quilt. I made it in 2003 and it sold right away to a reading specialist to hang in her room. It was meant to encourage kids to read and I hope it continues to do that. It has a lot of structual issues and the prints are a little busy, but I still love it.It measured 60x70. I actually pieced his quilt using 2 in squares. What we won't do to convey an idea.

CURRENT CLASS PROJECT

This Hunters Star quilt really does have borders, nice borders in fact but I guess they did not get into the picture. I like using a template method for this pattern. It is a good size, 70x90 or so. I think my class will enjoy it. Have you made one or several?

MAKING MUSIC

I'm not sure if I have blogged about this piece or not. It is one of my samples for my machine quilting retreat in Feb, with thetwowackywomen. We spend 2 and 1/2 days learning and practicing free motion quilting. It is great fun!!!

REFLECT

This is what's on my wall. It is a project that has me mesmerized on many levels. The lights and darks in the blues remind me of water reflection. This color combination is not my usual MO, but the pattern... make a block and cut it up, is always fun. This border is a possibility border. I hope my Tues class will like it.

FIRST 2010 PROJECT DONE!

Posted by Picasa

First project of the new year. I found this at a local quilt store yesterday....yes my first quilt store purhase of the year. I would have purhased on the 1st if any one had been open. Why stores think we don't want to shop while all those football games are on is beyond me. You will love making these little card holders. Fast and cute!
