WE INTERUPT THIS LEAF.....

To revisit spirals. Everyone is really enjoying the spiral in the leaf suggestion. This is a jelly roll pieced using the 1600 method except I used 55 strips and 2 1/2 inch spacers to connect the strips. It gives a nice lap size. So I wondered about various sized spirals including huge ones ( larger than a big platter). Still no marking and not turning the quilt, just taking your time and overlapping when you feel like it. I started in an empty space and continued spiralling until I had the size I wanted and started another . Try it !

I love this Frances, do you use you quilting foot for the spacing or did you use a template?

Have I missed something that talked about how to do the spiral without turning the quilt?

Love this! I just made on of these tops using my scraps and needed the inspiration for how to quilt. Perhaps spirals are in order!

You spirals look like you drew them on. What I mean is that they look so good, you make them look effortless. Big spirals have been a challenge for me.

I like that twist on the 1600 - the divider blocks just add such a nice shot of colour. The spirals are a great quilting design on it.

I'm going to try this technique! I just happen to have one of those quilts ready to go and sitting as I couldn't decide how to quilt it. Thanks for the inspiration, I just quilted a centerpiece with the heart swirl and a tablerunner with the leaf.

I just finish a jelly roll quilt in November, and was wondering how to quilt it. I am one of those who will most likley send it out to be quilted, put looking at yours, I would love to try it.

What is this 1600 method for a jelly roll? I love the colors and the intermittent squares. Would someone tell me how to do this? I would sure appreciate it! with all these beautiful examples, perhaps I'll be finishing quilts this year! I'm excited. Thanks Frances for sharing!

Frances, how do you move from one spiral to another? I tried this on a baby quilt I just posted but I'm not sure if I did it right. Thanks!
