Card Art

I never tire of leaves. This little card is fused, but just a little"quilting" is the finishing touch.

JUST A LITTLE ART

This pear was in a book several years ago. I am very fond of pears. Do you recall the time when women had "shapes"? This term was used when deciding what style of clothing would be more complimentary. Well I was a "pear" shape. I use to resent someone pointing out I had a small waist and larger hips. I'd love to find that waist now. I'd be pearfectly happy!

ZEN AGAIN

I am starting to create samples for my machine quilting retreat May 22-24 in San Clemente Ca. I enjoy helping the everyday quilter learn how to finish her work. It is facilitated by http://www.twowackywomen.com/. They are by far the most fun, organized women I know. I am always telling them they could negotiate world peace before lunch.

COLLECTIONS

It really is the small things in life. This is a pin cushion from American Patchwork. You make 3 separate pincushions, but I chose to stack them and then glue to a short candle holder. It is so cute it deserved a pedestal. I made 5 more last Christmas for my group, the Gourmet Quilters.

I read about the Bloggers Quilt Festival this morning and what a great idea! A quilt show in my jamies with music and coffee. So I present..Don't Bug Me I'm Reading. I have a series of quilts (in my head as well as made) that speak to reading. Click to enlarge the photo to get all the details. My favorite part is the book worm in the tree. It is machine appliqued and machine quilted by me. The blue bird of happiness gets in the picture, after all reading makes me happy. Have a good time at the show.

There is a rhythm to machine quilting and just like our hand writing it is unique. There are a few well known machine quilters I admire and there was a time I wanted to be just like them. Now I want to be the best I can be. A unique rhythm.

Textile Quilting

Sometimes texture is very elusive. Oh but when it happens....it makes my heart sing. The sign in the lower right corner says observe. It is a skill I continue to practice.
Leaves are my favorite
